Visual defect: Astigmatism is a defect in the curve of the
cornea whose shape is slightly oval. An astigmatic eye sees both nearby
and faraway objects unclearly. It doesn’t see clear contrasts
between horizontal, vertical or slanted lines. Often associated with
myopia or hypermetropia, astigmatism increases visual disorders. Procedure:The
Lasik procedure chosen depends on the type of astigmatism
(simple or associated) but is based on the remodelling
of certain parts of the surface of the cornea: with
a goal of flattening the areas protruding the most.
Through Zyoptix 100 personalised treatment it is
now possible to correct most complex forms of astigmatism,
through a concave or convex photoablation.
Post-operatory: For a few days, it
may feel as though your eye has grains of sand in
it. This is normal and is due to the healing and
regeneration of the epithelium. Vision may remain
blurred for a few weeks after the procedure. A haze
may appear after a few days or weeks, leading to
weaker vision, but this very soon goes away. Avoid
exposure to UV rays and the sun.
