Visual defect: Unless corrected, the myopic eye sees poorly
from far away but well close-up. A myopic eye is too long or too powerful.
The image forms in the front of the retina, and the brain thus receives
a blurred image. Procedure:Myopic
Laser-Lasik consists in using the Excimer laser,
the Technolas 217z 100, to carve the cornea in its
centre after cutting a very thin corneal flat using
the Femtec femtosecond laser. The procedure is done
on one eye after the other. Cutting and myopic treatment
lasts a total of 15 minutes for both eyes.
Post-operatory: Recovery is almost
full within 12 to 24 hours after treatment. Visual
sharpness fluctuates the first few days before becoming
optimal and stabilising within one month. Slight
myopia (up to –4.00 dioptres) can be corrected
with PKR or Lasik. Average myopia and serious myopia
(up to -11.00 dioptres) calls for Lasik. For myopia
above -11 dioptres, an intra-ocular lens must be
implanted.
