The procedure that you will undergo requires no hospitalisation,
as it is practiced on an out-patient basis.
- If you use soft contact lenses, stop wearing them 48
hours before the procedure. Rigid contact lenses should
be removed one week before the procedure.
- There is no need to stop taking normal medication.
- On the day of the procedure, there is no need to be
on an empty stomach, but avoid stimulants such as coffee
and alcohol.
- Wear comfortable clothing. Women should avoid wearing
make-up and chignons.

For best results from the procedure, make sure you:
• keep your arms alongside your body,
• uncross your legs,
• avoid sudden movements, even though the laser
is fitted with a "movement tracker",
• keep your eyes open, even when the procedure is
being done on a single eye.
- During the procedure, the surgeon will ask you
to constantly stare into a small red light, in order
to align the laser beam.
- After the procedure, the surgeon will wash your
cornea, during which you will feel water flowing
down your face.

-
It is recommended not to rub your eyes, even if they
are slightly irritated.
- You will have to wear sunglasses if the weather is
very clear or sunny.
- It is normal to feel as though foreign objects (like
grains of sand) are in your eyes after the procedure.
This feeling will go away by wetting your eyes regularly.
- Artificial tears will be prescribed for dry eyes.
- Wash your hands regularly.
IMPORTANT:
You are strongly urged not to drive during the 24
hours after the procedure.
It is best to have someone pick you up after the
procedure. |
